Bible Study Updates

Week 14 4/24 and 4/25
Hey all,
Last week we finished reading the Gospel of John, but don’t be discouraged by that fact that we finished this book because there is always more life to gain! For our final Bible Study this week we will be reading a chapter from the Life Study of John, a book that expounds of some of the topics that we discussed during our Bible Study. So let us wrap up our semester by gaining more of Christ in our reading!
Date: Wednesday & Thursday April 24th and 25th
Time: 5:00 PM- 6:00 PM
Location: Illini Union Room 215
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1. May God be speaking to us in our Bible Study and throughout the week as the Living Word!

We hope to see everyone there,

Week 13 4/17 and 4/18

Hey all,
Hope you all are doing well in your classes as we are approaching the end of the semester. This week we will be finishing the Gospel of John with chapter 21! We will be having our Bible Study in the Illini Union.
Date: Wednesday & Thursday April 17th and 18th
Time: 5:00 PM- 6:00 PM
Location: Wednesday: Room 215, Thursday: Room 217 at the Illini Union
In this chapter, after Jesus had resurrected, He had met again with His disciples who were fishing. The disciples had not been able to catch anything for the whole night, however, when the Lord was there, they were able to catch a hundred and fifty-three fish. This chapter really shows the care that Jesus has for His believers, and that if we believe into Him, He will provide all that we need.

Week 12 4/10 and 4/11

Hey all,

With only 3 more weeks of classes left, we hope you can find time to make it to our 12th Bible Study of the semester! This week we will be reading John 20 and we will be meeting in room 215 at the Illini Union.
Date: Wednesday & Thursday April 10th and 11th
Time: 5:00 PM- 6:00 PM
Location: Room 215 at the Illini Union
In this chapter, Mary the Magdalene and Simon Peter are searching for the Lord Jesus in His tomb, but they only find His linen clothes lying there, and a handkerchief folded nearby. When Peter and the other disciples see this they are satisfied and believe that Jesus rose from the dead and was gone now, so they left the tomb. Mary, however, was not satisfied. She wept and was in search of her Lord, and in her weeping, Jesus was there asking her why she was weeping. Hopefully, we all can have this experience this week in our search for the Lord, and meet with Him face to face!
We hope to see everyone there,

Week 11 4/3 and 4/4

In the midst of our classes and various responsibilities, let us not forget to get into the Word! This week we will have our 11th Bible Study in the Illini Union and we will be reading John chapter 19. Today, we will be meeting in room 215 at the Illini Union. However, on Thursday we will be meeting in room 314B at the Illini Union.

Time: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Location:
Wednesday: Room 215 at the Illini Union
Thursday: Room 314B at the Illini Union
One striking aspect about this chapter is that in verse 34 blood and water came out of the side of Jesus. The reason for this is because blood is used to deal with our sins and the water is used for imparting life into us. Hopefully, we can all gain more life in our reading of this chapter!
We hope to see everyone there,

Week 10 3/27 and 3/28

Hey all,

Date: Wednesday & Thursday March 27th and 28th
Time: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Location: Room 215 at the Illini Union
In this chapter we see that Jesus willingly gave Himself up for death because He was aware of the plan that was set before Him. He knew that His false disciple would betray Him and that He would be captured and sentenced to death. However Jesus allowed these things to happen so that He could have the chance to overcome death. I hope that we all are able to gain something from this Bible Study, and appreciate all that the Lord has done for us.
We hope to see everyone there,

“That they all may be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us; that the world may believe that You have sent Me.” John 17:21. In this week’s Bible reading we see this aspect of oneness, but what does it mean? This is simply God expressing Himself through us as we enjoy Him. Let this upcoming Bible Study be an opportunity to enjoy being one with Him!
We hope to see everyone there,

Week 6 2/20 and 2/21

Hey all,

Glad to inform you all that we are officially one-third through with this semester! Hope you all are ready for the sixth Bible Study of this semester. This week we will be having Bible Study in a different room, room 209 in the Illini Union

Date: Wednesday & Thursday February 20th and 21st
Time: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Location: Room 209 at the Illini Union

This week’s chapter starts off in a very comforting way, assuring the reader that they, ” Do not let [their] heart be troubled; believe into God, believe also into Me.” It is very easy to have your heart troubled with many things that distract us from God, such as our school work, family situations, or things that our friends may be going through. However it is such a comfort to know that Jesus understands this, and assures us that the way to find the solution to our troubles is to believe into God. And actually a few other verses also go into this same idea of God and His Son being our comfort, this is 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassions and God of all comfort; Who comforts us in all our affliction that we may be able to comfort those who are in every affliction through the comforting with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” So whatever your situation may be, just know that God is our comfort, and He cares for us always, and He does this not only so we can individually be comforted, but also so that we can have the ability to comfort others as well, so let us come forward to God this week and enjoy His comforting.

We hope to see everyone there,
Christians on Campus

Week 5 2/13 and 2/14

We hope to see everyone there,

Week 4 2/6 and 2/7

Hey all,
Hope you all are enjoying this week, and even though midterms are coming up, let us take this time as an opportunity to cast our anxieties onto the Lord. This week will be our fourth Bible study and will take place from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Illini Union Room 215.
Date: Wednesday & Thursday February 6th and 7th
Time: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Location: Room 215 at the Illini Union
In this chapter we can see that Jesus foresees His death and likens His death to a grain of wheat that will bear much fruit when it falls into the ground and dies. With this comparison, Jesus is saying that with His death on the cross, He will release His life within Himself so that it can be produced in the many believers in His resurrection, just like how a grain of wheat will produce many more grains when it falls into the ground and dies. (Verse 24)

Week 3 1/31

Hey all,
Hopefully you all stayed warm yesterday and had a chance to spend time enjoying God’s word. This week will be our third Bible study and will take place from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Illini Union Room 215.
Date: Thursday January 31st
Time: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Location: Room 215 at the Illini Union
In chapter 11, there is a man named Lazarus who had died. So Jesus visited him and cried out with a loud voice “Lazarus come out!” And this brought Lazarus out of death and back into life. This picture is so enjoyable, because it not only applies to this man from about 2000 years ago, but it can be applied and enjoyed by us even today! This is because when the Lord saved us, He not only healed our small sicknesses but actually gave life to us who were dead. He not only adjusted our behavior but regenerated us from our death. How great is it that we can know about this life-giving One!

Week 2 1/23 and 1/24

Location: Room 215 at the Illini Union
In chapter 10, Jesus describes Himself as the good Shepherd. In verse 11 He even says that He will lay down His life for His sheep and in this chapter the sheep represent the believers of Jesus. How great is it that our Lord has sacrificed His life for us so that we would be saved! We hope you can come and enjoy this chapter with us!
We hope to see everyone there,

Week 1 1/16 and 1/17

Hey all,

Hope you all had a nice and much-needed winter break. Let’s get ready for our first Bible Study of the Spring 2019 Semester! The Bible Study will take place from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Illini Union Room 215.
Date: Wednesday & Thursday January 16th and 17th
Time: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Location: Room 215 at the Illini Union
In this chapter, Jesus sees a man who was blind from birth. Before approaching the man, Jesus tells His disciples that the man was not born blind because of any sin that he or his parents committed, but he was born so that God might manifest in him. Hopefully, this can be our goal throughout this new semester that God may manifest Himself into all of us!
We hope to see everyone there,
